Expert Stump Grinding in Lake Oswego, OR

Stump grinding removes what tree removal leaves behind. At Western Landscape Construction LLC, we grind stumps below grade so your Lake Oswego yard is safe, flat, and ready for new landscaping or lawn use. A rotating cutter wheel breaks the stump down into wood chips. We then backfill the area so the ground is level and stable. Lake Oswego properties often feature mature Douglas firs, cedars, and big-leaf maples. Oregon's wet climate accelerates fungal decay and pest activity in exposed stumps, making prompt grinding a smart move for yard health. Left-behind stumps can attract insects, sprout new sucker growth, and create trip hazards on sloped residential lots common in the area. Whether you just had a tree removed or inherited an old stump on a property you purchased, our crew handles the work cleanly and efficiently. Call us to schedule an on-site assessment.

Stump Grinding FAQ

Common questions about stump grinding in Lake Oswego, OR.

Stump grinding is not required, but it is strongly recommended. Stumps left in place in Lake Oswego yards can attract insects, develop fungal decay, and produce unwanted sprout growth.

We grind stumps below ground level, typically deep enough to allow backfilling and replanting. The exact depth depends on stump size, soil conditions, and your landscaping plans.

Yes, once the stump is ground and the area is backfilled with soil, you can plant grass, shrubs, or other plants. We prepare the site so it is ready for the next step in your landscaping.

Stump grinding is a low-impact process that keeps disturbance to the surrounding yard minimal. Our equipment is sized for residential access, reducing pressure on nearby lawn and plant beds.

The grinding process produces wood chips that can be spread as mulch or removed from the site. We discuss your preference during the on-site assessment before work begins.

Yes, we grind both newly cut stumps and older stumps that have been sitting on Lake Oswego properties for years. Older stumps are often softer due to decay, which can affect the grinding approach.

We have used Western Landscaping this last year for our yard care and have been very satisfied with their service. We recently had them add a walkway along our side yard. Before it was an eyesore with mulch and debris the builder left. It is now a very attractive and functional walk path and patio extension. Hector came up with a great design and his team worked diligently to get it done. Highly recommend Western Landscaping!

Working with Western Landscape Construction has been a pleasure. They are always willing to go the extra mile to make sure that our yard looks great. Since we moved into our brand new home, they have helped with surrounding the house with plants and significant aesthetic landscaping in our backyard. They are a joy to work with.

Moved to Mcminnville 5 weeks ago and before I moved here, I reached out to Western Landscape (Hector & his team) about landscaping services. He instantly replied, listened to what was important to us and suggested the right service for us which is a weekly maintenance of our lawns and expert advice on plants, trees and other ideas to keep our back yard looking good. A couple of weeks after moving here, I enquires if he & his team could install a fence and gate for us as we wanted to extend what we had. Hector & his team explained what would be involved, adhered to the HOA rules and costed up the work for us which was super competitive compared to others around. They installed a great fence, stained it very well and finally hung the gate all within 3 weeks (due to weather we could not stain and also we waited to get clarification from the HOA on one aspect)….this wasn’t a problem for Hector as he believes in doing a job right and his motto is “measure twice and cut once”! I recommend Hector & his team to everyone who wants a reliable and trustworthy service!
